Boston in Transit - The Book
Figure 5.115 - Transit Facilities at Harvard Square, 1916

Streetcar tunnel tracks run from the northern streetcar portal, through Harvard Station, and to the southern portal, at Mount Auburn Street. Rapid transit tracks of the Cambridge Subway pass beneath the oval footprint of the Harvard Station head house. West of the station, the subway turns south before following Brattle Street to the far side of Eliot Square. There, the subway tracks passed through a portal and into daylight.
