The Rapid Transit Commission of 1891–92 proposed a North Union Station to replace the steam railroad depots around Causeway Street. Their designs included an elevation of the building facing Causeway Street (top), a longitudinal section of the complex (middle), and a plan of the terminal stretching from the Charles River (right) to Causeway Street (left).
