The text “Metropolitan Transit Authority” wraps around the map and embraces the communities within. A unified area for public transportation is reinforced by the lack of boundary lines between the cities of towns within the MTA’s service area. The map logo was accompanied on the inside cover of the MTA’s 1948 annual report by the slogan “Whatever you’re doing… Wherever you’re going… the M.T.A.’s going your way.”
