Boston in Transit - The Book
Figure 4.118 - BRB&L East Boston Facilities, Circa 1930s

The BRB&L packed a lot of railroading into a small area at Jeffries Point in East Boston. Multiple tracks serve two train sheds and multiple wharves. Each shed was a transfer point, where passengers transferred between trains and ferries operated by the railroad. Beyond the sheds, BRB&L ferries crossed the harbor between East Boston and Rowe’s Wharf. Railroad workers man the tower (left) and track switches (right).
